Mental Health Student Services Act (MHSSA)
Funded by the Mental Health Oversight and Accountability Commission (MHSOAC),the Mental Health Student Services Act (MHSSA) provides school districts with the resources to deliver school-based mental health services to young people and their families.
This grant is made possible through our partnership with Napa County Health and Human Services. As the grantee, Napa County Health and Human Services partners with Napa County Office of Education to allocate funds directly to school districts in support of direct services to meet student and family needs.
Each district utilizes MHSSA funds to meet unique needs.
Wellness Center staffing for uninterrupted access to services
District Social Workers to support “Screen-Triage-Connect” process so students get support quickly
Build out their Multi-Tiered System of Support to provide student interventions
Establish a Health and Wellness Center on the High School site with community partners
Increase contracted counseling services on the school site
Ensure students have individualized treatment plans to support interpersonal growth, social development, and academic success
Our three smallest districts combined resources to contract with a Social Worker one day per week
Social Worker provides student screening, direct services, parent education to reduce mental health stigma, and coordinates with school staff to maximize the benefit of services offered
Partnership through MHSSA with Napa County Health and Human Services allows students to access mental health services and programs where they are, on the school site. In addition to what can be provided on campus, services are available to the community at large through Health and Human Services, including:
