- CALL 911 for medical assistance.
- Assess the situation and take steps to see that the injured or ill person is cared for properly pending professional treatment. Do not leave the person unattended.
- Provide care only if you have the proper training.
- Send a runner to inform your immediate supervisor or other responsible persons.
- Contact the custodian to clean up any blood or other body fluids.
- Fill out INCIDENT REPORT FORM.
- Check the scene for safety. Check the victim for consciousness, pulse, and severe bleeding.
- Act immediately: Call 911 and inform the INCIDENT COMMANDER.
- Do not move the victim unless it is absolutely necessary. Watch for signs of shock.
- Provide care only if you have the proper training.
- Fill out INCIDENT REPORT FORM.
For medical emergencies, you may need to provide CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) or use the AUTOMATIC EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR (AED) device. Only perform CPR if trained to do so. If it is necessary to use the AED, follow the instructions provided. When calling 911, follow instructions provided by the dispatcher.
