What is the Napa Infant Program

The Napa Infant Program is an early childhood Special Education program that offers free services and support to families of children from birth through three years who are eligible for Early Start services and who live within Napa County.

A parent/caregiver, child’s doctor, or a community agency refers the child to the Napa Infant Program. The child will be assessed following California Early Start guidelines (dds.ca.gov/services/early-start/). Children who meet the qualifications will be assigned to a support team, who will work with the family to develop an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).

Using a social smile by 2 months
Rolling from back to front and front to back by 6 months
Responding to name by 6-9 months
Crawling on hands and knees by 12 months
Using 1-2 words by 12 months
Following 1-step directions by 15 months
Walking independently by 18 months
Engaging in pretend play by 24 months
Using 2-word phrases by 24 months

Parent support and education
Home visits
Consultation with specialized therapists

Support with specific family routines
Playgroups

How to Refer a Child

A family may refer their child by directly contacting our intake coordinator/family liaison. Children may also be referred for services by caregivers, physicians, public health nurses, California Children’s Services, North Bay Regional Center, school districts, or other educational programs.
